Rollover buttons sit slightly proud of the playfield, depressing under the ball's weight to close a switch beneath. They serve as simple scoring triggers or sequence targets, often placed in lanes or scattered across the playfield in patterns. Rollover buttons were common on pre-[[gameplay-feature:flippers]] and early flipper-era machines of the 1930s through 1950s, predating the flush-mounted [[gameplay-feature:star-rollovers]] that eventually replaced them in most designs.
