- Triangular kicker assemblies typically mounted just above the flippers on both sides of the playfield. When the ball strikes the rubberized face of the slingshot, a solenoid fires and kicks it back with force. Slingshots add speed and unpredictability to the lower playfield, often deflecting the ball into the outlanes or across to the opposite [[gameplay-feature:flippers]]. They became a standard feature of virtually every flipper game and are so universal that their absence on a machine is more notable than their presence.
