Fly Man

Fly Man is a single-player solid-state table built in 1978 by C.E.A. — Costruzioni Elettroniche Automatiche, the small Bologna firm headed by Dante Pavone.^[1] C.E.A. built pinball machines for only a brief run at the close of the decade, on a wholly in-house Solid State boardset whose play stayed spartan next to the machines of Chicago or of nearby Zaccaria.^[2] Like many small European makers of the era it borrowed from American designs — its stablemate Satellite reworked Gottlieb’s Jet Spin into a pared-down solid-state machine — while Fly Man went out under a name of the firm’s own.^[2]
