POOL is less a conversion kit than a rebadge: a fresh backglass under a new name fitted to Williams’ 1968 Billiards game Cue-T, keeping the original machine intact underneath.^[1] Williams had built Cue-T overwhelmingly for export — some 2,479 of roughly 2,800 units went overseas^[2] — leaving the cabinets common in Europe; tilt.it speculates the renaming may have been a way to slip the Cue-T name past a local list of prohibited games.^[1]
