    ipdb.notes
'Rancho' is a version of model number 223 Gottlieb's 1965 'Cow Poke' made for Italy. The kicking horse in the backbox animation of 'Cow Poke' is replaced by a bull. The cowboy that the bull kicks in 'Cow Poke' is made of metal while the one in 'Rancho' is made of plastic. The schematic shows a date of 10/22/1965 with the initials RHM. The model number for this export game is '243 IT' as seen on its playfield and schematic. Pictured together in this listing are two A-9950 instruction cards, each from one of two sets of Rancho instruction cards that were among schematics and other items that Federico Croci, a collector in Italy, obtained many years ago from operators. One card set indicates model number '243' and the other set indicates model '223 IT.' The instructions are identical between the two sets for each individual card number. Unless a misunderstanding occurred at Gottlieb, we can only speculate that the original model number for Rancho was to be '223 IT.'
