Diablo

Diablo is a Solid State four-player pinball machine that Giuliano Lodola, a small maker based in Avenza, built in 1980. The bulk of Lodola’s output rebuilt American Williams designs without licence: Williams’ Blackout became Black Hole (1980) and its Black Knight became Black Rider (1981), each reconstructed from scratch under a new Italian name.^[1] Diablo – Italian for “the Devil” – belongs to that same brief run of solid-state four-player tables, but its Demonic name sets it apart from those siblings, which took their titles straight from the Williams machines they reproduced.
