Hard Rock
Overview
Hard Rock is a Solid State pinball machine made by Universal (Universal Company, Ltd.) of Oyama, Japan, dating to 1977.[1] Its flyer bills it as “a contemporary pinball machine” that looks electromechanical but is equipped with a CPU, electrical sound, and contactless switches; despite the solid-state hardware, its backbox keeps mechanical Score Reels.[1] The two-flipper playfield adds pop bumpers, slingshots, kick-out holes, and standup targets in a 1730 mm-tall Floor cabinet.[1] Universal exhibited it at the 15th Amusement Machine Show in October 1977.[1]
