*POOL* is less a conversion kit than a rebadge: a fresh backglass under a new name fitted to [[manufacturer:williams]]' 1968 [[theme:billiards]] game *[[model:cue-t]]*, keeping the original machine intact underneath.^[1] Williams had built *Cue-T* overwhelmingly for export — some 2,479 of roughly 2,800 units went overseas^[2] — leaving the cabinets common in Europe; tilt.it speculates the renaming may have been a way to slip the *Cue-T* name past a local list of prohibited games.^[1]
